April 2026

United Kingdom

Join us for the Curls, Coils & Care event, a special two-day initiative offering free professional hair care, quality products, and cultural celebration to Black and mixed-race children in foster care. Enhance self-esteem and pride through expert styling and educational sessions that empower children and families alike.

The real question is, do you want to join us and bring the event to life.

The Problem

Thousands of Black and mixed-race children in UK foster care experience hair neglect—not from malice, but from a knowledge gap. Most foster parents and social workers haven’t been taught how to care for textured hair. The impact goes beyond appearance, affecting children’s self-esteem, cultural identity, mental health, and sense of belonging.

When a child’s hair is neglected, they feel overlooked. When their hair is properly cared for, they feel seen, valued, and proud.

Our Solution

Curls, Coils & Care provides free, comprehensive hair care events where vulnerable children receive:

Professional Services: Licensed stylists specialising in textured hair provide age-appropriate styles with individual attention

Quality Products: Every child receives months’ worth of hair care products with usage instructions for their carers

Education: Foster parents and social workers learn proper hair care techniques

Cultural Celebration: Spaces where children feel proud of their hair and heritage

Confidence Building: Visible transformation that changes how children see themselves

Our Track Record

2025 Pilot Event: In our first year, we supported 45 children in one day. The feedback was overwhelming—children who’d struggled with their hair for years received proper care, many for the first time since entering the care system. Foster parents finally felt equipped. Social workers saw a profound well-being impact.
